Parents of full pay and reduced meal students in kindergarten through eighth grade are requested to send in the meal money every Monday morning for the meals they expect to purchase that week. Monthly pre-payments will also be accepted. A monthly menu will be provided to each child for ease in planning. As in the past, the pre-payments will be posted to each child’s account each week and will be “spent down” when meals are purchased. Once the child’s account reaches a negative $10.00 balance, a notice will be sent home with the child requiring payment in full within three school days. If no payment is received by noontime on the stated deadline, beginning the next school day, the child will be given an alternative meal with white milk at no charge until payment is made.
Students at the High School, and adults throughout the district will not be permitted to charge food unless special prior arrangements are made with the Head Cook in the school. Head Cooks in each school have the authority to grant permission to waive the “no charge” guidelines for High School and adults, and for each instance, the charge can be for no more than $5.00. This balance must be paid before another waiver can be given.
PLEASE NOTE: Children who receive free meals must take the entire meal in order for it to be free under the State guidelines. If the child takes only a milk, or a separate ala carte item (where available), they will be charged for those items.
